August Break Day 9: Taste

So I am a bit behind on posting my August Break Challenge photos! First up is the theme of Taste! I chose the Japanese taste of Umami. Umami, a savory taste, is one of the five basic tastes, (together with sweet, sour, bitter and salty). A loanword from the Japanese (うま味?), umami can be translated "pleasant savory taste." So what better way to illustrate this than with some Japanese food!

August Break Day 8: A Selfie

I assume a Selfie is a self portrait, although until now I had never heard it called that way. This morning I got all set up to take a self portrait and while looking in the mirror to check how messy my hair was I noticed how dirty the mirror was. Which in itself is an illustration of my personality. I don't look in the mirror often (except to test my camera and it's functions and to take a photo of myself or to put mascara on) and I almost never clean it! So here it is! A self portrait of the artist in a dirty mirror she has not cleaned in 6 months. It does not get more glamorous than this!

August Break Day 7: Skyline

Yet again another late post! Yesterday's photo challenge subject was Skyline. Luckily I live in London! - one of the most famous city skylines in the world. And yesterday I had the good fortune of visiting the Greater London Assembly Building to scout out the location for a possible work event. The building was amazing and the view was even better. The GLA building is located on the southern bank of the River Thames next to Tower Bridge and I could look out at the tourists taking photos way down below, like little Lego people in a toy town.

August Break Day 6: Diagonals

This Tuesday's theme was Diagonals. I must confess I actually looked up the word in the Dictionary (shameful!) just to make sure I had the correct idea! Unfortunately due to work and series of other personal circumstances, such as being royally beaten by husband in a game of Monopoly (I ended up in Jail four times, although I do own Park Lane), I have not had time to post my photos, so here they are a few days late:

As you will notice the theme naturally lends itself to the subject of architecture. I have never taken so many photos of random architecture and I must say this challenge has changed the way I look at buildings.
